Alberto Cohen knows how to boldly enter and then transform industries and his life. He’s also someone you’d want to get a drink with, since he’s an international beverage expert.
Born in Brazil, Alberto lived in Venezuela, where he co-founded Grupo Mecotex, a textile company that found their niche in school uniforms and flourished. When Venezuela became increasingly unstable in the ‘90s, Alberto and his family immigrated to Miami, Florida, to start anew. A pro in creating something from nothing, Alberto pivoted to beverages and used his vertical integration skills in the CPG industry. As a connector of people, places, and things, he swiftly developed a system to produce private-label beverages for large North American brands and founded Platinum Goods Corp. His team brought fair-trade, organic coffee to the United States in 2001. Alberto also predicted and rode the wave of coconut water’s popularity, as one of the primary private-label producers in the U.S.
As a business developer, Alberto now uses his expertise in sales, marketing, and supply chain, working with companies overseas to reach North American markets with accounts like Target, Sam’s Club, H-E-B, Publix, Walgreens, and 7-11. With trust and credibility as the hallmarks of the partnerships he builds, Alberto says that he creates a marriage with clients—a long-term relationship that endures. “We are the link between suppliers from South America, Europe, Asia, and the U.S., and I make sure expectations from the supplier and customer are always met,” he shares. Fluent in three languages and an avid traveler, Alberto has a keen ability to translate business and cultural norms: "We bridge that gap," he adds.
Most recently, Alberto founded AllWellO, a premium organic, cold-pressed drinks brand. He has proudly adopted the title of grandfather in the last decade too, and weaved that into his new venture: “The name is a play on the word ‘abuelo,’ which means grandfather in Spanish.” Even with the pandemic’s challenges, Alberto has landed AllWellO on the shelves of major retailers like HEB, Publix, Rite Aid and Walgreens. An Amazon #1 new release, AllWellO now has a robust digital presence, including a subscription program for its most loyal customers.
At 63, Alberto plans to continue to expand AllWellO and continue to dream up new ideas as a business consultant. “Cheers to a career of creative adventures!” he declares.
