Danesha Smith, the owner and managing member of Sunshine & Sunrise Enterprise, wholly embodies the true spirit of entrepreneurism. Together with her husband, Andre, they own and operate 10 McDonald's restaurants in the bustling Atlanta Metro area, providing employment opportunities to over 500 individuals. Yet, their journey is not defined solely by financial prosperity; it's a story of empowerment and a heartfelt commitment to giving back.

 

Danesha's journey began in Tucson, Arizona, and led her to Atlanta, where she completed her education. The first in her family to attend college, she obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration from Clark Atlanta University and a master’s degree in human resources management from Keller Graduate School of Management. After acquiring a formidable academic foundation, she garnered practical experience by working in the field of human resources, thus setting the stage for any number of future possibilities.

 

Danesha’s first foray into entrepreneurism was through a McDonalds franchise, which grew to a virtual empire. Yet, despite achieving financial success, she soon realized that her achievements held greater significance when shared with others. In addition, she became a parent, which caused her to develop a renewed perspective on life's priorities. While she had once been engrossed in pursuing corporate success, the arrival of her children, Croix and Cruz, led her to redefine "having it all." Danesha sought to inspire young women and professionals to strike a balance between ambition and the invaluable moments that transcend monetary value. Thus, Sunshine & Sunrise Enterprise was born. Danesha and Andre recognize the journey requires much support, and they are building a growing company with critical business advisors along the way and support from their community.

 

At the heart of Sunshine & Sunrise Enterprise lies a profound emphasis on holistic well-being. They champion a health-first mentality, recognizing the importance of both physical and mental health in leading fulfilling lives. They promote events that encourage healthier lifestyles within their community through sponsorship and fundraising initiatives. Additionally, Sunshine & Sunrise Enterprise believes in the transformative power of education. To this end, they partner with high schools and historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to instill a business-oriented outlook in young minds. Their internship programs expose learners to the ins and outs of owning and operating a business, providing invaluable real-world experiences. Notably, their educational initiatives aren’t limited to their HBCU partnerships; Danesha and Andre also create innovative platforms that equip and mentor the next generation of dynamic leaders.
