Hudson H. Marshall

Born and raised in Dallas, Hudson Marshall carries a proud legacy of Texas roots, with multiple generations hailing from the great state. Much like the enduring strength of the Lone Star State, Hudson’s career is built on resilience, tenacity, and a deep connection to his community. Just as the Texas landscape is marked by its vastness and diversity, Hudson’s expertise spans a wide range of financial services, from commercial banking and capital markets to international business and risk management. His approach reflects the Texan spirit—steadfast, bold, and driven by a sense of purpose.

Throughout his two-decade career, Hudson has demonstrated strategic leadership, a keen ability to build relationships, and a commitment to fostering growth. Whether he’s guiding mid-to-large-cap companies or connecting business opportunities across sectors, he embodies the same pioneering ethos that has long defined Texas.

Joining Texas Regional Bank (TRB) in April 2024 as executive vice president of commercial banking, Hudson’s role is pivotal. He leads the commercial bank’s business development, risk management, and relationship expansion for clients across multiple industries, including commercial, industrial, governmental, and non-profit sectors throughout the organization. His responsibilities also extend to identifying opportunities in treasury management, international services, capital markets, wealth management, and insurance, ensuring seamless collaboration within TRB’s broad ecosystem.

Hudson’s career journey is as deeply rooted in North Texas as his family’s heritage. He has held prominent positions, including SVP, corporate banking manager at Bank of Texas, VP, senior relationship manager at Regions Bank, and VP at Bank of America Merrill-Lynch. His educational foundation was laid at Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance. An alumnus of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Leadership Dallas Program, he remains committed to his community, serving consecutive multi-year terms as a board of directors member for the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and advising other prominent organizations.

Beyond the boardroom, Hudson’s dedication to service has earned him the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for three consecutive years (2021, 2022, and 2023), highlighting his unwavering commitment to giving back.

Texas Regional Bank, headquartered in Harlingen, is a full-service financial institution with over $2.7 billion in assets and 35 banking centers across South Texas, Central Texas, Houston, and North Texas. Now, with Hudson’s leadership, TRB continues to build on its mission to serve the diverse and growing needs of communities across the state, one relationship at a time.

Hudson, let’s start with what drew you to TRB. What was it that attracted you?

I was drawn to TRB because of the impressive foundation they've built—a sophisticated platform with great potential for growth. The opportunity to leverage this platform and enhance its value to businesses and communities across Texas was a key factor for me.

What do you see as your mission as TRB’s executive VP of commercial banking?

My mission centers on building meaningful relationships and delivering trusted, tailored advisory services. At the end of the day, people do business with people, and I believe fully understanding each client’s unique strategic goals is essential to helping them achieve success. What excites me most about this role is TRB’s commitment to establishing and fostering relationships. We prioritize long-term connections, ensuring our clients receive personalized support aligning with their ambitions.

Equally important to me is community engagement. I’m passionate about making a positive impact and improving quality of life for everyone. This aligns perfectly with one of TRB’s core pillars—enhancing the communities we serve. It’s not just about doing business; it’s about bolstering growth and well-being in the places we call home.

What makes you unique as a leader?

What sets me apart as a leader is my steadfast commitment to putting others first—whether it's my team, clients, or partners. I make it a priority to truly listen and understand their goals and aspirations. I believe in taking the time to see where they want to go and finding intentional ways to help them get there. I’ll go the extra mile, and I will move mountains to support them because, at the core, I see my mission as a leader as making life better for others.

For me, it’s all about servant leadership. It’s not just about motivating people; it's about inspiring them to see their own potential and become greater than they thought possible. I believe in being honest, doing right by others, and looking out for one another. When you lead with integrity and character, everything else falls into place. None of us have achieved success alone—we've all been guided by mentors and leaders who showed us what’s possible. Now, it’s our responsibility to pay it forward and lift others up, helping them realize their own paths to success.

You’re also a passionate supporter of nonprofit and community organizations and deeply involved with your community. Can you share some of your activities with us?

Community engagement is incredibly important to me, both personally and professionally. I’m proud to be involved in various ways, starting with coaching my 10-year-old twin boys’ baseball and football teams. It’s a joy to mentor them and their teammates, instilling the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Beyond sports, I serve on the board of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and on advisory committees for the American Cancer Society and the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business.

I’m also a 2021 alumnus of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Leadership Dallas Program, an experience I deeply value. Each year, this prestigious program selects 40 community and business leaders from thousands of applicants for a year-long, intensive leadership training. Being chosen was an honor, as it gave me a deeper understanding of how to improve our community's economic and social well-being. It’s a backstage pass to seeing how things work behind the scenes and finding ways to make a tangible difference.

It’s not about individual success, but rather, about lifting our communities as a whole. This is a value I wish to instill in my sons, emphasizing that life is not just about looking out for yourself but also about contributing to the well-being of others. Family involvement in community work is something we cherish, and I believe it’s our responsibility to give back and help improve the quality of life for everyone around us.
