Irina Shpigel founded the boutique law firm, Shpigel & Associates, P.C., in August 2014 with a set of core values dedicated to client service, legal excellence, and personal integrity. Irina Shpigel is an attorney who focuses her practice on business and partnership disputes, commercial litigation, civil litigation, and contract negotiation. She adeptly manages all aspects of commercial disputes and has successfully represented companies and individuals in state and federal courts.
Irina works tirelessly to represent her clients and offers the highest caliber of legal services and support. In practice since 2009, she has worked on several notable cases that have been featured in the news. She was lead counsel for an In Rem proceeding in the United States District Court, District of Columbia, where she represented an international aviation company in connection with alleged violations of the federal export laws.
Other high profile cases she has worked on include representation of an aviation company involving the embezzlement of millions of dollars by the Company’s CEO, representation of a foreign telecommunications company under the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act to recover stolen funds, and representation of a Russian ship-building magnate, who became a victim of political maneuvering after a “Red-Notice” was unjustifiably issued against him by Interpol.
Irina notably secured a confidential pre-answer settlement on behalf of a founder of a major telecommunications company in New York Supreme Court, County of New York, in a case that alleged damages of $100 million. She also helped to secure a $1.1 million settlement on behalf of investors, who were duped as a result of a Ponzi scheme, in a Civil RICO (Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations) litigation in New York Federal Court.
Irina is admitted to the New York State Bar, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York, U.S. District Court, District of Columbia and has been admitted pro hac vice in the U.S, District Court of Florida and New Jersey.
Irina is a graduate of Pace University, where she received a B.A. in psychology. She received her Doctor of Law (JD) degree from Albany Law School. In the past, she has volunteered her time with the New York City Bar Association, Young Lawyers Committee, and the Veterans Assistance Project. Irina is passionate about giving back to the community and volunteers her legal services Pro Bono in her free time.
