Lane Sharman, the president, and founder of Open Doors Management, stands at the forefront of the energy transition movement, leveraging over 30 years of entrepreneurial and consulting experience across a diverse spectrum. With a background spanning energy, water, real estate, and computer science, Lane is dedicated to facilitating the integration of land into the Energy Transition, a critical step towards decarbonizing energy and material production in the United States.

Lane's journey into environmental advocacy and sustainable land management began with a pivotal moment in 2004. Witnessing the depletion of a beautiful desert town's sole water source in San Diego County, he recognized the urgent need for change. This realization propelled Lane to initiate the first independent water credit exchange in California, offering farmers water credits in exchange for relinquishing water rights, thus promoting more sustainable water usage.

Lane's professional trajectory reflects a transition "from bits to atoms," blending his early expertise in mathematics and software engineering with a newfound passion for environmental stewardship. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics with a computer science option, Lane embarked on a mission to address the looming resource depletion crisis.

In 2018, Lane founded Open Doors Management, a company specializing in identifying real property sites across the United States suitable for manufacturing and energy generation. Since its inception, Open Doors Management has spearheaded 20 significant land projects spanning multiple states, including California, Nevada, Wyoming, Kansas, Alabama, and Tennessee. Notably, Lane co-founded an initiative in San Diego County that replaced San Diego Gas & Electric with community energy, resulting in a significant reduction of CO2 emissions.

The impact of Lane's projects extends far beyond environmental benefits, with over 1,650,000 metric tons of CO2 displaced and a remarkable economic impact exceeding $250 million. This impact resonates across communities, benefiting landowners, developers, ratepayers, and stakeholders alike.
