Ronald Jacobus III & Richard Cafege

An Unexpected Meeting, a Shared Mission

The story of Global Security and Protection Group (GSPG) begins with a chance encounter that would later become a powerful alliance. Ronald Jacobus III was working as a policy specialist for a Texas state senator, managing critical infrastructure protection and emergency management policy. When the senator’s office received death threats, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) assigned Special Agent Richard Cafege to assess and manage these threats. Ronald became the liaison between his office and Richard’s unit. An instant connection sparked between two professionals who would later refer to the meeting as something akin to “long-lost brothers.” They stayed in contact and eventually, co-founded GSPG in 2019 with a shared passion for technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM).

Why TSCM?

While most firms offer traditional physical security services, GSPG identified a gap in the market where few firms had the resources, training, or experience to offer sophisticated counter-surveillance solutions. Richard, who once led the DPS Technology Unit, brought extensive hands-on experience deploying hidden cameras, drones, and trackers for covert operations. He also performed and supervised TSCM sweeps for sensitive sites like the governor’s mansion. As a security consultant, Ronald saw an increasing demand for digital privacy and the lack of providers with credible expertise. “We protect the spoken word,” Richard conveyed, “Our goal is to keep your information yours, whether in your boardroom, private residence, or the mobile environment of your car or plane.”

The GSPG Difference

GSPG is headquartered in Houston and licensed to provide executive protection in Texas, with the ability to deliver consulting and counter-surveillance services worldwide. Their client base spans corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and government entities. The firm’s strength lies in its people—professionals with deep backgrounds in protective services. “We’re not just coming from the schoolhouse,” Richard notes, “We’ve done this work in the real world—sweeping motorcades for governors, searching politicians’ offices, and protecting the residences of influential clients.”

The GSPG Podcast: Sharing Knowledge Across the Industry

Committed not only to serving clients but also to advancing the industry, Ronald and Richard launched the GSPG Podcast. The show explores the world of executive protection and security management through interviews with practitioners and thought leaders across the field. It's their way of giving back with conversations that help elevate security standards for professionals everywhere.

A Future Focused on Security and Service

With technology becoming more embedded in daily life, the threat landscape is ever-evolving. GSPG stands at the forefront, protecting not just physical spaces, but the integrity of confidential information. Whether sweeping for listening devices hidden in teddy bears or consulting with global executives, Ronald Jacobus III and Richard Cafege have built their company on trust, discretion, and professional service.
