Sergey Nazarov
Sergey Nazarov defies expectations, and that’s putting it mildly. His career has taken him from being a university professor to performing in Cirque du Soleil; seen him condition professional tennis players and be featured on Dragons Den. He’s also a decorated gymnast in his home country of Kazakhstan and throughout Asia, alongside having co-authored academic articles in the Pedagogy Science Journal.
Today, he’s launching Flento, an app catering to fitness coaches and gym owners looking to streamline their administrative operations. Developed by Acrostrong Technologies, Flento helps users manage scheduling and with client charting, invoicing, and e-commerce, and also allows users to connect to their clients for virtual training. Acrostrong was co-founded in 2020 by Sergey and his partners, Karina Dauakaeva, and Matt Harnaga. With Sergey working as its CEO, this Vancouver-based tech company builds software projects dedicated to meeting the everyday needs of fitness businesses. In particular, they offer an intuitive, streamlined, and affordable option in business management tools for those looking to elevate their services and grow their brand.
Flento reflects Sergey’s love for continued growth and evolution, something also reflected in his other venture, Fitnastika Fitness. Founded with his wife, Corine, in 2013, this personal training studio has three locations and offers fitness and training programs based on gymnastics, acrobatics, and general body movement, all areas where Sergey excels. He wants to share his passion with everyone for a simple but very good reason: “The more you move, the better you feel.” Besides preparing athletes for Division One NCAA and the NHL, Fitnastika serves as an inspiration for Flento, giving Sergey real, firsthand experience with the daily needs of gym owners and trainers. It also led to the invention of Akuspike, a textured, medical-grade rubber mat designed to improve circulation, developed in partnership with Paul de Jersey.
Sergey has long been inspired by the words of athlete and politician Bill Bradley: “Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.” At the same time, he’s also continually amazed by the people around him. “I’m a people person and I enjoy building teams,” he says. “I enjoy bringing minds together and seeing how they can solve any problem.”
