Sharon G.E. Washington
When her family moved to a small, rural town in Oregon, Sharon G.E. Washington became critically aware of her race. “My Blackness was something that somehow made me different in a bad way,” she recalls. And this was validated by the violence and vandalism experienced by her family. But the difficulties she experienced personally went on to shape her professionally. She leveraged her education to learn more about and contextualize what she went through as a child, and eventually forged a career where she shapes healing opportunities, deep dialogues, and institutional strategies that have positively impacted multiple institutions and the healing fields.
Sharon is the founder and CEO of Sharon Washington Consulting, a company that offers individual and group coaching, organizational assessments, climate surveys, listening sessions for team members and HR, and other processes. She refers to these initiatives as her Process for Engaging in Action to Create Equity (PEACE). Her online learning platform, Critically Conscious Connections, offers an array of robust, interactive courses about different topics within the realm of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism (DEIA). Learning materials, from lectures to digital download content, as well as subscription-based bundles and one-time purchasing opportunities, are all available. ”I take a healing approach to DEIA, and this allows me to welcome a full, embodied somatic experience with my clients,” she said.
Sharon has a Doctorate of Education, a Master of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Arts.
