Abdul Maten: A Champion of Compassion and Change

In the heart of a remote village in Bangladesh, where hope often seemed like a distant dream, Abdul Maten emerged from humble beginnings to become a beacon of compassion and change. Born and raised amidst hardship, Abdul's journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication to serving others.

From a young age, Abdul harbored dreams of pursuing a career in medicine, envisioning a future where he could alleviate the suffering of those in need. However, fate had a different path in store for him when he embarked on a transformative journey that would redefine his purpose and shape his life's work.

While studying to become a medical doctor in the US, Abdul was confronted with the stark realities of poverty and inequality that persisted in his homeland (which got magnified during the rise and aftermath of COVID19). Inspired by a deep-seated desire to make a meaningful difference, he made a bold decision to veer from the conventional path and devote himself wholeheartedly to humanitarian endeavors.

Abdul founded ZamZam Foundation in 2020—an organization committed to empowering communities, uplifting lives, and fostering sustainable change. One of the foundation's signature projects, "Crafted by Her," stands as a poignant testament to Abdul's vision and compassion.

In a remote village near Dhaka Bangladesh, where battered women once grappled with the harsh realities of poverty and abuse, "Crafted by Her" has become a beacon of hope and empowerment. Through skill development initiatives and employment opportunities provided by ZamZam Foundation, these resilient women have found a newfound sense of purpose and dignity. With every handicraft product they create, they are not only crafting beautiful pieces of art but also forging a path towards economic independence and self-sufficiency. What began as a humble endeavor has blossomed into a sustainable project, empowering women to support themselves and their families while breaking the cycle of poverty and oppression (www.craftedbyher.com).

Another important project of ZamZam Foundation Abdul Maten has spearheaded, is the "Fighting Period Poverty" campaign. This initiative, in collaboration with PURE™, which is an organic biodegradable pad manufactured by ZamZam Foundation, has donated over 30,000 menstrual hygiene products in the US alone in 2023, ensuring access to essential resources for women in need (www.ppoverty.org).

There are several other projects that Abdul is leading, including provision of daily hot meals to orphan and needy children in Kyangwali refugee camp in Uganda, installation of water pumps in remote areas of Pakistan and Bangladesh, and provision of relief efforts during natural disasters etc. (www.zamzam180.org/causes).

Abdul's dedication to providing direct assistance to fellow humans in need, without discrimination based on race, color, religion or sex, highlights his belief in the inherent dignity and equality of all individuals. Through his tireless efforts with ZamZam Foundation, he exemplifies the enduring impact of compassion, solidarity, and unwavering dedication to the betterment of humanity.
