Dr. Raffaele Luca Amalfi

Dr. Raffaele Luca Amalfi is the CEO, co-founder, and chairman of SEGUENTE Inc., an information and communications technology (ICT) company that offers end-to-end liquid-cooled hardware platforms with integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) software solutions for data center and telecom market segments. An innovator, visionary, and industry influencer, he has received recognition globally for his accomplishments and groundbreaking technological innovations. Dr. Amalfi has a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, a master’s in energy engineering, and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. He held strategic roles in several corporate companies. He was a principal innovator at Nokia Bell Labs USA, where he led R&D and business activities in thermal management of high-performance communication systems; and as a scientific collaborator and laboratory operations manager at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, where he made outstanding contribution in the field of two-phase liquid cooling for complex systems. Other past positions include researcher at Alcatel-Lucent USA, where he investigated the benefits of liquid cooling technologies for network equipment; and mechanical engineer at IBM Research Laboratory in Switzerland, where he developed a novel cooling system for high-performance processors.

 

Dr. Amalfi has authored over 20 patents in advanced thermal management solutions for the ICT industry and over 60 scientific publications in leading journals, conference proceedings, and handbooks. He is part of the leadership committees for IEEE and ASME thermal conferences, a member of the ASME K-16 Heat Transfer Committee and the OCP Heat Reuse Steering Committee, a guest editor for the ASME Journal of Electronic Packaging, and the recipient of numerous industry and government awards for groundbreaking innovations, including this year’s Internet 2.0 Outstanding Leadership Award. Other awards include the Bell Labs Outstanding Inventor Award; EPFL Outstanding Researcher Award; Alcatel-Lucent International Ph.D. Award; and Top Academic Achiever Award for two consecutive years, Federico II University, Naples, Italy.
