As a Navy veteran with 21 years of service, including two combat deployments, I have witnessed the harsh realities of human conflict. Despite these experiences, I believe that humanity can unite in love, care for the planet, and work toward eradicating global violence. Driven by this vision, I co-founded several nonprofits, each achieving multi-million-dollar impacts rooted in social justice, community building, and sustainable change. After facing mental health struggles, I sought healing through seminary and chaplaincy courses. There I discovered my salvation in making others feel loved, and valued.

Growing up as a bullied child, I often found solace in music and entertainment. What ultimately saved me was discovering like-minded peers—an experience that now drives Sanctuary Afterschool Gaming, a program launched in partnership with The Dragons Concord in Virginia. Sanctuary provides safe spaces for youth, especially neurodivergent, autistic, and LGBTQIA+ youth, the most vulnerable to depression and isolation. The Order of Love is working with schools, PTSAs, and county facilities to have Storytellers lead on-site games, building confidence and addressing bullying through collaborative storytelling and play.

Before one pivotal social media post, my typical engagement consisted of fewer than 100 likes and less than 10 comments. After posting what I believed to be a harmless message, I was bombarded with over a thousand hateful, AI-generated comments. That moment ignited my desire to engage with AI’s intellectual frontier, ensuring that its power is used for good. As human beings, we are essentially the "parents" of AI, and we must take responsibility for shifting its learning away from normalized hate and violence and toward love and unity. This mission underpins Good Trolls, our program that supports individuals facing online harassment while providing employment opportunities for those unable to work in traditional environments.

The Order of Love's work is further strengthened by the multiple veterans on our board - people who understand both suffering and resilience. Our Veterans Call program amplifies the voices of military personnel advocating for peaceful conflict resolution and an end to violence. We aim to ensure that veterans calling for peace have a seat at the table where decisions with far-reaching consequences are made.

We are at a critical juncture in history. Those who have experienced life before the internet are becoming extinct. There is a brief window to create lasting peace, sustainably care for our Earth, and heal humanity.
