Ron James, founder of Opscale Exchange, has built his career around helping people navigate systems that often feel inaccessible, confusing, or stacked against small businesses. Drawing from decades of leadership experience across major corporations and the tax industry, he created Opscale Exchange with a clear mission: to help smaller companies gain access to financial opportunities traditionally reserved for large enterprises.

 

Before launching his own company, Ron spent more than a decade with H&R Block, where he developed deep expertise in tax preparation, compliance, and client service. He later joined Innovation Refunds, immersing himself in the expanding world of tax credits and government incentive programs. During that time, he recognized a major disconnect in the marketplace. Large corporations routinely utilize tax credits, refunds, and incentive programs through teams of advisors and attorneys, while many small business owners remain unaware that those same opportunities even exist.

 

Building a Marketplace for Small Businesses

 

That realization ultimately inspired the launch of Opscale Exchange. Ron envisioned a trusted marketplace where small business owners could connect with experienced tax professionals, attorneys, and financial specialists capable of helping them recover money and identify incentives they may qualify for. Rather than positioning the company as a traditional tax firm, he built Opscale Exchange as a resource hub designed to simplify an often overwhelming process.

 

The company currently focuses on services including cost segregation studies, research and development tax credits, tariff refunds, and IRS penalty recoveries. Ron notes that many businesses were charged penalties during the COVID era that they should never have incurred, and Opscale Exchange works to help recover those funds. Beyond those services, however, his long-term vision is far broader. He points out that thousands of federal, state, and local incentive programs remain underutilized simply because most business owners do not know they exist.

 

Innovation Through Technology

 

As founder, Ron oversees operations, client support, and strategic growth initiatives while continuously expanding the company’s offerings. Technology and artificial intelligence play an increasingly important role in that strategy. He is actively developing AI-driven systems that analyze business profiles, ask qualifying questions, and help identify potential credits or incentives available to clients.

 

Another differentiator for Opscale Exchange is its professional network and access to capital solutions. Through strategic partnerships, the company can help clients secure advances against anticipated refunds or government receivables, allowing businesses to improve cash flow while waiting for claims to process.

 

Leadership, Service, and Community

 

Prior to entrepreneurship, Ron held leadership positions with major companies including Walmart and Best Buy. He credits those experiences, along with living and working in multiple regions across the country, with shaping his leadership perspective and ability to connect with diverse communities.

 

Outside of business, service remains a central part of his life. An Eagle Scout himself, Ron continues to support scouting programs, coach youth sports, and mentor young people in his Colorado community. He also holds an MBA, completed certification studies through the Wharton School, and is a certified product manager through Pragmatic Institute.
