Stephen Butler has become a sought-after consultant for North American growth and exit-stage companies by combining an uncommon blend of experiences–prestigious doctoral training, an apprenticeship at the world’s leading strategy consultancy, and over two decades’ success as an executive, entrepreneur, and advisor.
After earning his PhD at Cambridge and teaching at Harvard, Stephen began his business career with The Boston Consulting Group, where he helped Fortune 500 companies build their first online businesses. He left BCG to join the IPO team and lead the corporate development function at a client, TMX Group, one of the world’s first public trading platforms. The expertise he acquired driving growth at its first major acquisition positioned him to become CEO of the award-winning iPad learning platform Gummii, attracting a million users and approaches from Pearson and Oxford University Press before Apple’s struggle to gain classroom traction curtailed operations.
Stephen returned to his first passion as a rare breed of advisor, pairing a top-tier toolkit with front-line executive experience. After helping Canada’s Business Development Bank create its flagship advisory offering for high impact firms, he co-founded a growth consultancy (Framework) and a virtual advisory board provider (Rimrock).
