Before founding BGS in 2019, Trish held several senior leadership roles, including chief marketing and commercial officer for GE Capital Asia Pacific. In this role, she built business & commercial strategy for B2B/B2C financing businesses & JVs across 7 countries as well as launching and scaling 2 new business units in Hong Kong and China. Additionally, Trish played a pivotal role in a global start-up business that incubated, integrated, or spun out 5 new digital revenue and commercial AI platforms in just three years.

To gain deeper insights into Trish’s journey and the vision behind Business Growth Solutions Inc., we sat down with her for a candid conversation.

Trish, what inspired you to start Business Growth Solutions?

I've had the privilege of working alongside some of the world’s smartest leaders, often at pivotal moments of transformation. My last role at GE was particularly foundational. We were navigating significant digital and business transformations, harnessing new opportunities, and integrating capabilities that delivered real value to customers. That experience showed me the power of integrating commercial AI & digital platforms to scale businesses. I saw a clear need to apply this expertise across companies of all sizes. That’s why I started BGS. I love solving complex, exciting challenges alongside top leaders, and through BGS, I get to do that every day.

What makes your company or approach unique?

Our approach begins and ends with a relentless focus on the customer. Early in my career, I was intensively engaged in scaling Six Sigma.  I learned the importance of deeply understanding customer needs and using data to build processes to meet them. This principle has guided me ever since. I’ve spent countless hours with customers, navigating disruptions, and I know that the best insights come directly from those who know us best. We take that feedback, assess the current challenges, and then reshape our solutions to deliver exactly what’s needed.

At BGS, we work with companies of all sizes —from startups introducing new ideas to mid-market businesses in sectors like financial services and healthcare, to global giants undergoing key transformations. Bridging the gap between AI, new technology and a team’s readiness to adopt it is crucial. Often, understanding company culture and gauging people’s readiness for change is even more important than the technology itself. We focus on diagnosing all these factors to ensure not just adoption, but long-term success.

What have you learned from some of the challenges you’ve faced?

It sounds trite, but it’s true – constraints and adversity give rise to tremendous innovation, if you can stay resilient and focused on what’s possible. My journey as an entrepreneur and leader has been deeply shaped by some very difficult experiences, both personally and professionally: I lived in NYC and worked in financial services when that city and our industry was rocked by the tragic losses of 9/11. I had just landed in Asia Pacific when Japan was devastated by the horrific earthquake and tsunami in 2011.  I witnessed incredible resilience and optimism and I have been forged by those experiences to the benefit of my clients today, helping C-suite leaders find opportunities to reshape their businesses and better service their customers in the face of very challenging circumstances.

What is the most important piece of advice you’d give to business owners or leaders to help them thrive during challenging times?

Focus on your customers.  What is changing for them? What products/services will help them win?  How can you differentiate your offering? Once you answer those fundamental questions, ensure your teams are ready to embrace new ideas and opportunities with an open mind. Leadership alignment is critical during any major shift, and organizational readiness is vital. You can have the best AI or technical solution, but without considering how people, process, systems and organizational structures need to adapt and gaining buy-in from the team, it’s likely to fail or not realize its full potential.
