A RATING

Ed Vargas
At a time when communities are seeking credible leadership and meaningful collaborations, Ed Vargas stands out as a catalyst for social impact. As president and founder of Vargas and Associates LLC, he has built a career dedicated to forging partnerships that unite corporate groups, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and government agencies to drive lasting change.
His mission expanded with Champions of Change, the coaching and leadership series he hosts on expandi TV and YouTube, offering practical strategies and real-world insights for leaders committed to transforming their organizations and communities.
A Life Defined By Purpose
Ed’s journey began with a defining moment. In his senior year at Bellarmine College Preparatory, he was offered a full‑tuition football scholarship at Saint Mary’s College. However, a knee injury requiring surgery led to a life-threatening pulmonary embolism. During 36 hours in the hospital, he made a pact with himself: If he survived, he would dedicate his life to three goals—becoming a senior executive by age 30, working in international business, and paying it forward for the rest of his life. That pact became the foundation of his life’s purpose.
After earning his B.S.C. and J.D. from Santa Clara University, Ed achieved his first goal by becoming vice president of sales and marketing at his second packaging company, guiding the business through a recession, increasing profitability, and expanding operations. He reached his second goal when he was recruited to serve as an editor, publisher, and conference director for an international startup B2B nonwovens technology publishing group. He created conferences in the US, Canada, and Japan. His third goal—giving back—has defined every chapter of his career. At AT&T, he helped launch the HACEMOS ERG’s High Tech Day, which provides STEM workshops for high school students. HACEMOS has since awarded more than $5 million in scholarships. Ed has led nonprofits and mentors startup entrepreneurs at the Miller Center for Global Impact and is a professional readiness mentor at Conectado.com.
A Catalyst for Social Impact
Founded in 2024 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Vargas and Associates LLC reflects Ed’s commitment to strategic collaboration and ethical innovation. The firm specializes in building partnerships that amplify social impact by connecting employee resource groups, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and public agencies. One of Ed’s most significant achievements is initiating a $40 million affordable housing project for senior farmworkers at 555 Kelly Avenue in Half Moon Bay. He created the presentation for the City of Half Moon Bay and San Mateo County on behalf of the nonprofit, Ayudando Latinos a Soñar. The City approved Mercy Housing of California as the developer to secure tax credits and Serna Funds, ensuring rents remain affordable for farmworkers earning $25,000 annually. This project starts this year. The model is replicable and scalable, demonstrating Ed’s belief in sharing best practices to strengthen communities.
Ed’s leadership expanded further when he served as president of a startup nonprofit, where he created the Unity, Advocacy, and Impact Summits in 2024 and 2025. These summits brought together leaders to exchange knowledge, build relationships, and develop strategies to drive systemic change. In 2025, he delivered his keynote address, reinforcing his commitment to advancing equity and opportunity.
The Power of Ikigai
A pivotal influence in Ed’s life is Ikigai—the Japanese philosophy of purpose—which he first encountered while creating a B2B conference in Tokyo. Ikigai now shapes his coaching series, helping individuals discover their “why,” achieve balance, and contribute to what the world needs. “I’ve been practicing aspects of Ikigai for years, but I can only reach so many people in person,” Ed explains. “My Champions of Change series allows me to scale that impact and help others find clarity and direction.”
Keynote Speaker and Thought Leader
As a keynote speaker, Ed delivers actionable insights grounded in hard-earned experience. His presentations blend leadership strategies, personal storytelling, and his lifelong love of music—he plays guitar and sings in cover bands. “Music is a superpower that transcends cultures, languages, and generations to connect people on a deeper level,” he says. His ability to inspire, teach, and unite audiences has made him a sought-after speaker for organizations committed to meaningful change.
Ed is an Oakland Latino Chamber of Commerce Board member. He is on the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce Convention Advisory Committee for the 47th state convention, in August at the Oakland Marriott. There are over 815,000 Hispanic-owned businesses that generate over $100 billion in Annual Revenue in California. Ed is the moderator for the panel, “Investing In Our Own: Philanthropy, Fundraising, and the Future of Latino Business Leadership.” These roles reflect his commitment to elevating Latino leadership, economic mobility, and cross-sector collaboration.
The Future of Vargas and Associates LLC
Ed believes that leadership and communication skills are essential to bridging divides and creating positive change in an increasingly polarized society. His core beliefs are clear: credibility builds trust, trust builds strong relationships, and respect must be given to be received. Whether consulting on social responsibility initiatives, delivering keynotes, moderating panels, or mentoring emerging leaders, Ed is committed to empowering others to take action vs “talk the talk.”
As he continues partnering with Camille Garick, founder of expandi TV, Ed’s vision for Champions of Change is clear: initiate collaborations, share best practices, and equip leaders with the tools to scale impact. “My mission is to be a catalyst for change,” he says. “When we work together, the possibilities are limitless.”
