Michael Tyll has built his career on a simple belief: when business owners have clarity and confidence, they can grow without fear. As owner and CEO of Payroll Vault, operated under Tyll Industries LLC in Leavenworth, Kansas, he has turned that belief into a thriving business focused on helping small and mid-sized companies navigate one of the most critical, and often stressful, parts of running a company: payroll, tax compliance, and workforce management.

 

An accomplished entrepreneur and finance professional, Michael brings extensive experience in accounting, tax strategy, and operational leadership to every client relationship. Before launching his Payroll Vault franchise in 2025, he built a strong foundation in public accounting, serving as a senior tax manager and working as an accountant for a nonprofit organization. He also expanded his entrepreneurial reach through another business venture, First Manor, under the Tyll Industries umbrella. Combined with his MBA from the University of Saint Mary, these experiences shaped his practical, people-first approach to financial leadership.

 

For Michael, numbers have never been just about spreadsheets; they represent peace of mind. His work has included helping clients save thousands in self-employment taxes, creating clear Roth conversion paths, establishing donor-advised funds that generate lifetime tax savings, and advising on entity structures that position businesses for long-term growth. He sees financial strategy not simply as compliance, but as a way to give business owners the confidence to move forward with purpose.

 

That desire to help others was the true inspiration behind starting his own company. Michael always knew he wanted to own a business, but what motivated him most was the opportunity to give back to the community. Whether helping friends, neighbors, family members, or local business owners, he found fulfillment in supporting others and watching them succeed. Today, with roughly 30 clients in just the first year of operation, that vision is becoming a reality.

 

Payroll Vault serves businesses across many industries, with strong concentrations in restaurants and construction, as well as healthcare, medical facilities, and general contracting. Michael specializes in stepping in where payroll has become a burden or a risk, offering comprehensive payroll processing, tax compliance, HR systems, time and attendance solutions, and strategic workforce support. His mission is to streamline operations while giving business owners the infrastructure they need to scale sustainably.

 

What makes Michael especially unique is his small-town approach to service. Based in Leavenworth and serving the greater Kansas City area, he values direct relationships and personalized attention. He believes mom-and-pop businesses need support far more than major corporations, and he takes pride in growing alongside his clients. Watching a construction client evolve from a one-person operation into a thriving company with multiple fleets and dozens of employees remains one of his proudest professional experiences; a reflection of the kind of meaningful, long-term impact he strives to create every day.
