When it comes to creating technology that anticipates tomorrow’s needs, Amazon has long been a leader—and Troy Miles is right at the heart of that mission. As senior manager of product innovation and experimentation, Troy leads a team responsible for designing and executing forward-thinking strategies that enhance the experience for over 1.5 million Amazonians globally. His work sits squarely at the intersection of people, technology, and progress. Just as Amazon continually evolves to serve customers around the globe with new solutions, Troy is busy building internal products that foster inclusion, innovation, and long-term impact. At the core of his work is helping to realize the Inclusive eXperiences and Technology’s organization’s vision of Built-In and Born Inclusive solutions that create durable inclusive experiences and foster deeper connections globally.

With over 15 years in technology leadership roles spanning IT, HR, learning and development, agile product management, and infrastructure architecture, Troy brings a rare depth of experience to his role. His specialty? Greenfield product development—initiatives that start from a blank slate, driven by customer or employee needs that haven’t yet been addressed. At Amazon, this means zero-to-one innovation that can change the way people work, connect, and grow within the company. “For me, everything we do begins and ends with the people,” Troy shares. “I thrive when I’m solving meaningful problems at scale and working with brilliant people who care about the impact they make.”

Troy’s ability to think big and act strategically is rooted in his upbringing in the town of LaPlace, Louisiana, where his natural curiosity and drive to connect with others were forged early. That mindset has helped him excel in both technical and people-centered roles, leading transformative initiatives that touch everything from mentorship access to cultural competence. He’s known for “looking around corners,” anticipating future needs, untapped markets, and hidden opportunities. This perspective has been central to projects like his leadership in creating a cloud-based IoT energy optimization platform and building a cross-ERG mentoring program now serving thousands of employees.

Before Amazon, Troy served as the head of IoT and edge computing for ExxonMobil, where he led the development of smart energy systems powered by cloud services and edge gateways. Across his career, his hallmark has been the ability to align cutting-edge tech with human-centered design, a philosophy echoed in his academic and professional pursuits. He holds a B.S. in information systems and decision sciences from Louisiana State University, along with certifications from Wharton, Scrum Alliance, and Purdue University. He was also named a 2024 Outstanding Diversity Award recipient by the Houston Business Journal.

Amazon’s identity as a tech giant is fueled not just by consumer products, but also by its deep internal culture of innovation. Leaders like Troy Miles are key to keeping that engine running. By creating programs that not only serve, but anticipate the evolving needs of a global workforce, Troy is ensuring that Amazon’s most important innovations aren’t just in what it sells—but how it supports the people that power it.
